President Al-Bashir addresses International Development Finance Summit in Doha, affirms continuation of government efforts for finding peaceful settlement for Darfur issue
Doha, Nov. 29 (SUNA)-
President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir has affirmed
continuation of the government efforts for finding political peaceful
settlement for Darfur issue, lauding the efforts exerted by sisterly and
friendly countries for solving the issue.
Addressing the international development finance summit in Doha Saturday, President Al-Bashir affirmed support to the Arab-African initiative, led by the State of Qatar, as well as the efforts of the joint United Nations-African Union envoy. President Al-Bashir called for writing off the external debt of the poor countries, urging establishment of effective and just international mechanism for writing off the external debts of the highly indebted poor countries without preconditions.
He pointed that the industrial countries did not live up to their commitments to provide the necessary support to development as well as their putting many conditions and procedures that impede the flow of development aid. President Al-Bashir called for mobilization of external resources for development, pointing out that it is impossible to realize the millennium development goals without economic development strategy and directing development aid to realize an agricultural leap in the poor countries.
Minister of Finance Belittled Impacts of International Financial Crisis on Sudan
The minister also added that the prices of the Sudanese cereals in Sudan are affected by the increase and decrease of the international prices concerning the exportation and importation on ground that Sudan is an oil exporter, referring to the decrease of oil barrel price from 150 dollars to 40 dollars under the current financial crisis.
Dr. Al-Jaz further mentioned that the current financial crisis was preceded by a food crisis, indicating that Sudan is exposing itself as a geographical area that can provide food. "Sudan looks forward to be a station of investment" he said adding that this goal can only be achieved through persistent and fruitful work so that the Sudanese exports can be capable for competition in the international markets.
The minister referred to the successful Sudanese experiment in the field of economy which is based on the participation and other Islamic formulas, adding that Sudan is inviting the world to benefit from its experiment that can be developed.
Dr. Al-Jaz reiterated Sudan welcome for investment in different fields. He affirmed the state commitment to all the requirements for implementation of the peace agreements. He added that the state was keen to make all sectors participate in the preparation of the general budget for the year 2009.

Egyptian President Reiterates Concern on Sudan Stability
(smc)Egyptian president Hussni Mubarak said yesterday in statement before a joint session held by Egyptian parliament and consultancy council that this government concerns very much indeed on the question of Sudan stability and integrity of its soil. He said Egypt addresses Arab issues as part of Egyptian national security concern.
He said he believes that the Palestinian problem represents a core issue for stability in Middle East and the only way for maintaining security in the area is by resolving it.
