The Government

The Source of Powers, right and duties in the Sudan is the Constitution of the Republic of the Sudan of 1998. The political system is multiparty system where the President and Legislative are directly elected by the people. Elections are independently prepared, conducted and announced by the General Elections Board.

Chief executive is the President of the Republic who is aided by two vice-Presidents, Assistant, Advisors, Council of Ministers, Southern States Coordination Council and governours of States (Wali’s). An elected National Assembly which is based on the multiparty system is representing the legislative authority.

Article 99 of the constitution provides that judicial competence in the Republic of the Sudan shall vest in an independent authority to be known as the Judiciary to assume judicial power in adjudication of disputes and judgments on the same in accordance with the Constitution and the Law.

The Republic of the Sudan is divided into 26 states. Each state has a Governour (Wali), Legislative Council and Council of Ministers.

National Anthem

We are the army of Allah and of our land
We shall never fail when called to sacrifice
Whether braving death, hardship or pain
We give our lives as the price of glory
May this our land, Sudan, live long, showing all nations the way
Sons of the Sudan, summoned now to serve
Shoulder the task of presenting our country
